Wildcats Battle Thorobreds to Open 2020

FRANKFORT, Ky. – It's a new year and one the Wildcats aim to start strong. Fort Valley State men's basketball travels to the Cincinnati suburbs to open the 2020 docket at Kentucky State on Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats (3-10/1-3 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East) made the long trip to make a good January start against the Thorobreds (5-7/2-3 SIAC West). FVSU finished December with a rocky ending of four losses in a row capped by a defeat on Dec. 21 at nationally-ranked Embry-Riddle, 121-85. Kentucky State fell in its final two contests of 2019 with a game-tying 3-pointer not going down for the 81-78 close loss at Morehouse College in Atlanta on Dec. 21 as well.

Last year in Fort Valley (Nov. 24, 2018), the Thorobreds raced out to a 46-27 first-half lead over the Wildcats. FVSU was unable to rebound in the final 20 minutes of the 81-54 final.
