Wildcats Women's Hoops Returns to Court for First Time in 2020

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- For the first time in the calendar year of 2020, the Wildcats return to the basketball court. Fort Valley State begins the January schedule with its longest road trip of the year at Kentucky State on Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats (5-8/2-3 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East) face the Thorobreds (4-7/1-3 SIAC West) in a battle of two teams, which finished 2019 with four losses in a row. FVSU fell short on Dec. 21 at home against Miles College, 69-57, while Kentucky State dropped a close 70-69 contest at Albany State on Dec. 19 in the foes last games.

In last year's meeting (Nov. 24, 2018) at FVSU, the Wildcats edged a 62-57 win. Tied at 39, Nyah Dismukes (2:03) and Torri Myers (1:34) pushed FVSU ahead of Kentucky State, 41-39, late in the third frame and never trailed again. Alicia Franklin hit for 28 points to lead the home charge.
