FVSU Looks to Stay in Win Column Against Paine College

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Wildcats played their best game of 2020 last Saturday night in victory. Fort Valley State looks for its second road win of the season as it treks to across Georgia and takes on Paine College in men's basketball.

The Wildcats (4-15/2-8 SIAC East) broke a tough nine-game losing string with their best game on rivalry territory in front of a packed house in an 72-64 win at Albany State last Saturday (Jan. 25). Tied at 50-50 with 7:13 left, a D'Angelo Strickland fast break layup following a Malik Clark steal gave FVSU the lead for good. The FVSU win was its first since posting an overtime victory, 87-82, at home against Central State on Dec. 4.
 
The Lions (2-14/2-9 SIAC East) had a tough time on Monday night in an 81-57 loss at Savannah State in their last contest. Paine College, though, pulled out a victory over Morehouse College, 66-61, in its last home game on Jan. 20.
 
The Wildcats and Lions split their two series game last year with each winning on their home floors – FVSU took a 64-50 contest on Jan. 23, before Paine edged out a 55-53 game in Augusta on Feb. 9. The Wildcats have dropped their last two games played in the Heal Complex and last won on Jan. 16, 2016 by an 87-84 final
