The Wildcats (13-11/9-6 SIAC East) heads into the Saturday matchup with a half-game lead on the Tigers (14-7/9-7 SIAC East). With a victory, FVSU will clinch the SIAC East runner-up position for the Conference Tournament, while a Savannah State victory will give them the second-place spot since it would have the season series sweep.

FVSU will be rested as it has not played since completing a season sweep of rival Albany State, 48-38, last Saturday night at home. With the victory, the Wildcats have claimed wins in five of their last six contests and the third time of the year winning three in a row.

Savannah State, though, aims to duplicate its 78-65 win over FVSU in Fort Valley on Jan. 18th and ended the visitors' last three-game win streak. The Tigers are 2-2 in their last four games with a Thursday night win over Clark Atlanta (80-77).

In the first meeting a month ago following a Tazhia Fanning layup made FVSU trail by two (33-31) at 3:48 in the second quarter, Savannah State rattled off the next 12 points and held a 45-33 halftime lead. The Wildcats cut the margin down to six points, 70-64, on a Jah'ne Brown trey with 1:59 remaining in the game, but two back-to-back Tigers buckets followed to end the home surge.

Fanning, the current SIAC Newcomer of the Week, led FVSU with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting and 20 rebounds to go with three blocks and three steals. Torri Myers added 11 points and five boards, while Nola Carter chipped in nine points, eight rebounds, six assists and two blocks.

The Wildcats won the rebound battle, 58-42, but the Tigers shot better (39 to 28%).

The Tigers saw Le'Andrea Gillis down five of eight 3-pointers for a game-high 27 points and had nine rebounds.

**NOTE: The Wildcats current 13 wins are the most for the program since they finished at 13-15 for the 2013-14. With a win, FVSU will not only claim the most victories since going 15-13 in 2012-13, but secure the team's first winning season since the same campaign.
