Wildcats’ Carter Earns SIAC Women’s Basketball Second Team Status

ROCK HILL, S.C. –
Looking to make her final season her best, the Wildcats senior turned it into a reality with her voted honor. Nola Carter of Fort Valley State with her all-around game earned her Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Second Team status.
 
Carter posted all-around team-best production of 12.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game over 25 game in the Wildcats regular season.

The SIAC East Division's top team Benedict College saw sophomore forward Ay'Anna Bey grab the Player of the Year award. SIAC West champion Miles College had the Coach of the Year in Phillip Wallach and the Defensive Player of the Year in Raiana Johnson. Savannah State's Ta'Kyla Austin picked up the Newcomer of the Year, while Amari Heard was given the Freshman of the Year.
 
Carter led FVSU (13-13) to its most wins in six years and more wins than the last two seasons combined. The Jacksonville, Fla., native led the squad in points (310), scoring average, field goals made (117), assists (100), and steals (50), while second in rebounds (178), defensive rebounds (100), rebound average, third in 3-pointers made (13) and fourth in blocked shots (17).
 
In four years, the 5-10 forward totaled 1,061 points, 673 rebounds and 243 assists in 102 career games.
 
The Wildcats senior leader takes her team on Tuesday late afternoon, March 3, in a 4:45 p.m. contest against LeMoyne-Owen College in the SIAC Tournament First Round in Rock Hill's Sports & Events Center.
