FORT VALLEY, Ga. – With the festive Homecoming in The Valley crowd behind them, the Wildcats regained their winning form Saturday afternoon. Fort Valley State rattled off 40 unanswered points with six different players scoring touchdowns to run past Clark Atlanta, 40-7, in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action.

After an interception and punt on its opening possessions, the FVSU (5-3/3-1 SIAC East) engine revved up with three-straight, second-quarter scoring drives over a 10:42 stretch on a combined 26 plays and 239 yards for 21-7 lead. The Wildcats saw its one-two running back punch of Emanuel Wilson and Kentrelle Williams, who posted a total of 245 rushing together, with third-quarter scoring runs of 14 and 20 to seal the victory over the Panthers (2-6/0-4 SIAC East).

FVSU almost tripled the Clark Atlanta total offense, 438-182, with 244 rushing, a season-best, and 194 yards through the air. A week after committing six turnovers and having two punts blocked, the Wildcats won the turnover battle, 4-1, and took down a five-to-one sack advantage.

Individually, Wilson eclipsed the 100-yard mark for the fourth time in five games this season with 23 carries for 161 yards and a 14-yard run. He also caught two passes for 18 yards. Williams made the solid tandem with 10 totes for 84 yards and a 20-yard scoring burst.

Defensively, cornerback Christian Maddox doubled his interceptions with a pair, including his second at 3:02 remaining he ran 45 yards back for the Pick 6. Maddox's secondary teammates added stat line of seven tackles and a pass breakup by Tyler Moore, Zach Anderson chipped in five tackles with one for a loss and Deon Andrews picked off a late pass.

Freshman Tim Alderman and senior Antonio Golden both sacked the Panthers quarterbacks twice apiece with the first-year player having a four to two advantage on tackles for loss.

On fourth-and-eight from the FVSU 36-yardline, Clark Atlanta fooled the home team with a fake punt pass for 17 yards. The visitors found the end zone five plays later on a Sharif Brown 16-yard burst and led 7-0 with 36 seconds left in the opening period.

It was all Wildcats over the final 45:36 with their three long scoring drives of 79, 90 and 70 yards to gain control of The Valley Homecoming game and allowed the afternoon celebration to be a joyous one.
