STATESBORO, Ga. –
After a shortened winning season earlier this calendar year, the Wildcats took to the court for a Saturday tune-up before their real games start. Fort Valley State hung tough against Georgia Southern, but it saw the home team post a 99-71 final score of the Exhibition game.

Torri Myers scored inside for the game's first point and Kyla McIntosh downed an outside jumper for a 9-6 lead 3:33 into the day. Trailing 18-13 three minutes later, Georgia Southern went on a 10-0 run for a 28-13 advantage after the first period. Nikki Culbreath started the second frame with a pair of free throws to cut the margin down to 14 points, 28-14, but the Wildcats drew no closer the rest of the way against a team, which defeated Auburn University two nights prior.

Myers paced the FVSU attack with 18 points on 8 of 17 shooting and eight rebounds. Jah'ne Brown added an even 12-point dozen, while Diamond Jones chipped on 10 points. Ja'Nya Ferguson had eight points.

Terren Ward recorded 15 points to lead the Eagles.

FVSU will now move onto the games, which count, and open its season next Friday, Nov. 19, in a 5:30 p.m. road game at Shorter University.
