Wildcats Furious Comeback Not Enough Against Thorobreds

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Wildcats turned it on in the final quarter Saturday afternoon. Fort Valley State mounted a furious fourth-quarter comeback, but it was not enough as Kentucky State took a 68-58 women's basketball victory.

Trailing 60-33 after three frames, the Wildcats (0-3/0-1 SIAC East) was relentless in the final 10 minutes. After Jah'ne Brown drained a 3-pointer to end the third quarter, FVSU cut the margin in half, 66-49, with 3:22 on a Nikki Culbreath layup. The clock turned out to be a Kentucky State (3-1/1-0 SIAC West) teammate as it ran out as Brown netted the game's final points for the ending 10-point margin, 68-58.

Brown pumped in 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for a double-double for high FVSU honors. Torri Myers connected on 7 of 16 attempts for 16 points to go with five rebounds and three steals.

KSU received 13 points from Laurie Thomas as its top point producer.

In the fourth-quarter comeback attempt, FVSU outscored KSU, 25-8, including a 12-2 run early in the period.

FVSU returns home on Monday evening, Nov. 29, in a 5:30 p.m. matchup against Central State.
