Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Chris Myers

Wildcats Had the Tricks for Magicians, Post Second Win

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Wildcats were able to bring the 'Finals Week' cheer on Tuesday night. Fort Valley State took the lead two minutes into the evening and never looked back for a 66-52 women's basketball victory over LeMoyne-Owen College for its second win of the season.

Tied 2-2, Torri Myers netted two of her game-high 23 points off an offensive rebound to spur the Wildcats (2-4) to an 8-0 short run. A Jah'ne Brown layup after a Kyla McIntosh steal put FVSU ahead by double digits, 22-11, with 4:12 left in the second quarter and it never led by less than for only 12 seconds early in the third quarter the rest of the way.

Myers downed 9 of 14 attempts for her 23 points, 14 of them in the first half, while she grabbed eight rebounds and swiped five steals. Brown added 12 rebounds to go with six points. Returning to the lineup, Diamond Jones chipped in 11 points and four assists and Nikki Culbreath netted 13 tallies and five caroms.

Patrisha Lollis paced the Magicians (3-4) with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

FVSU travels to Lane College for a 3 p.m. EST contest on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 11.
