FVSU Offensive Duo Talks About Upcoming Battle Against Erskine

4/6/2021 3:50:00 PM

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – After hours of work with no game action, the newest Wildcats quarterback-to-wide receiver combo made their debut two weeks ago. Fort Valley State quarterback Tyrell Jackson and wide receiver Shemar Bridges talked Monday morning about their upcoming battle at Erskine College.

In the new FVSU offensive duo's opening game action, the two connected on seven passes for 158 yards and a touchdown against Shorter University, a 36-18 FVSU victory on March 27. On the first play of the March 27 contest, Jackson found Bridges for 55 yards to the home 15-yardline where the Wildcats found the endzone four plays later.

On the day, Jackson completed 20 of 34 pass attempts for 246 yards and one score. Bridges grabbed seven passes for 158 yards of his eight times being targeted.

The duo and the FVSU offense produced 333 yards of total offense playing against their first foe in almost 16 months while running a new offensive scheme. The Wildcats will test their mettle against a Flying Fleet defensive unit, which has allowed 455.0 yards per game over the spring's first five games.
