FVSU Volleyball Downs Agnes Scott

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – After a tough road weekend, the Wildcats were able to get back on track Monday night. Fort Valley State recorded its third women's volleyball victory in front of a good HPE Arena crowd in a 3-1 victory over Agnes Scott College.

The Wildcats (3-4) came from behind in each of the first two sets to record 25-22 and 25-16 wins. The Scotties (0-8) took a 16-16 match and netted the next five points and held on for the 25-22 third set. FVSU, though, left no doubt in the fourth set as it scored 13-straight points for a 20-5 lead, before the 25-9 final.

FVSU saw three frontline players reach double-digit kills to power the offense. Laiani McCullough, Bianca Haslett and Raven Edwards downed 12, 11 and 10 kills. McCullough also had 12 digs for the double-double.

Setter Morgan Hebert handed out 34 assists to go with four kills, nine digs, two aces and two blocks. Elizabeth Moore added 11 digs and three aces.

The FVSU team served up 14 aces for the match and held Agnes Scott to a -.021 hitting percentage.

FVSU will next take part in the three-day Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference crossover event Friday-Sunday, Sept. 24-26, in Cartersville, Ga. The Wildcats start the weekend Friday in a 5 p.m. match against the Thorobreds of Kentucky State.
