Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Chris Myers

Wildcats Outscore Badgers in Final 11 Minutes, Record Road Win

MOBILE, Ala. – In their fifth attempt of 2022, the Wildcats were victorious. Tied at 39, Nikki Culbreath drained a 3-pointer in the final minute of the third period and Fort Valley State never trailed again through the final quarter in a 59-48 women's basketball road win over Spring Hill College.

Tied for the second time in two minutes, Culbreath hit what amounted to the game-winning shot with 54 seconds to give FVSU (4-10/2-7 SIAC East) a 42-39 edge heading to the fourth quarter. Following a Badgers (3-12/1-5 SIAC West) bucket to start the final 10 minutes, the Wildcats received hoops from Torri Myers and Nyah Dismukes and went on to outscore the home team 17-9 in the frame for the win.

Myers connected on 6 of 11 shots for a FVSU-best 12 points to go with five rebounds. Jah'ne Brown netted 10 of her 11 points in the first half and grabbed six rebounds. The quartet of Diamond Jones, Ja'Nya Ferguson, Culbreath and Dismukes each chipped in six points. Ferguson added eight boards and four assists and Jones had five assists.

Emyria Harris led all scorers with her 15 points for the home Badgers.

FVSU returns home to the HPE Arena when it hosts rival Albany State on Saturday night, Jan. 22, in a 6 p.m. contest.
