Wildcats Start Strong, Lady Panthers Come Back to Take Match

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Wildcats started strong on Wednesday evening, but they could not hold the momentum. After Fort Valley State won the opening set, Clark Atlanta came back to sweep the next three sets for the 3-1 women's volleyball decision.

After going out to an early lead and being tied late at 23, FVSU (3-17) added the final two tallies for a 25-23 first-set win. The Lady Panthers (12-15) took control of the second set and went on for wins in the following trio of sets (25-15, 25-17 and 25-19).

Raven Edwards powered the Wildcats attack with a season-high 16 kills to go with two digs and two blocks. Laiani McCullough handed out 39 assists, dug eight attacks and added four kills. Both Morgan Good and Jayda Mikell contributed six winners apiece, while Sarah Rosario led the defense with 17 digs.

Shynique McGee paced Clark Atlanta with 19 kills and 10 digs.
