Wildcats’ Rosario Selected SIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Wildcats reaped an award for its most successful week on the court. Fort Valley State's Sarah Rosario was selected as the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.

The sophomore helped FVSU (6-18) to a 2-1 week, including its first winning streak by taking the second two contests. Over 13 sets of action, Rosario recorded 56 digs, seven assists and two service aces.

Starting off the week, the Bayamon, P.R., native recorded 14 digs, three assists and an ace in a four-set defeat at Allen University.

Last Thursday night, the Wildcat libero recorded her season-high of 26 digs to go with two assists and an ace in the FVSU upset at Savannah State, 3-1.

Rosario was a key defender in the Wildcats come back victory at home Sunday afternoon. The libero posted 16 digs and two assists as FVSU won the first set, before it rebounded to take the final two sets for a 3-2 win over Benedict College.

On the season, Rosario has a stat line of 290 digs (3.6 per set), 28 assists, 21 service aces and five kills over 81 sets of action.

FVSU returns to action at home Thursday night (Oct. 27) in a 7 p.m. match against Allen University.
