Edwards Voted Volleyball All-SIAC 2nd Team

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Wildcats top 2022 hitter has helped the program reappear on the postseason award teams. Fort Valley State's Raven Edwards was voted to the All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Second Team honor.
The sophomore led the FVSU frontline this season with 169 kills, 2.04 kills per set and 181 points scored. Edwards became the first Wildcat to receive All-SIAC honors since both Nya Bell and India King were All-SIAC Second Team members for the 2019 campaign.
 
Capturing the top SIAC individual award of Player of the Year was SIAC East Champ Edwards Waters' Fatima Ramirez and her teammate Mataiya Barber received the Setter of the Year. Mary Preston of Albany State earned the Freshman of the Year and Spring Hill's Mikayla Boyer was donned the Libero of the Year. Alexis Emanuel from Lane College rounded out the major awards as the Coach of the Year.
 
In 2022, the Merrillville, Ind., native rounded out her season stats with a .122 hitting percentage, 81 digs, 12 total blocks, seven assists and five service aces in 83 sets played. Raven pounded double figure kills in six different matches. The outside hitter downed 16 kills with 12 digs for her one double-double and a block assist against Allen University. She also had another 16 kills, two digs and two blocks versus Clark Atlanta. Edwards lined 14 kills and three digs at Benedict. The second-year Wildcat hit 10 kills against both at Savannah State and at home against Benedict.
 
Over her first two seasons, Edwards has totaled 344 kills, 193 digs, 20 assists, 18 aces and 18 total blocks in 159 sets.
