ATLANTA, Ga. – The Wildcats have had a solid last couple weeks and are in a potential promising season in front of them. On Tuesday, Fort Valley State sophomores K.J. Doucet and Myson Lowe swept the Southern Intercollege Athletic Conference Men's Basketball weekly honors as the Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week.

The two Wildcats (6-4) helped the team record its fourth win in as many games in an 80-74 overtime victory over the Dragons of Lane College last Monday, Dec. 5. FVSU went to 4-0 in the SIAC East with the win and, at the time, 5-4 on the year.

Doucet and Lowe guided FVSU to a 36-34 halftime lead where they combined for 20 points, 10 points apiece, on 6 of 13 shots and 3 of 5 from long range and nine rebounds.

After getting two fouls in the first three minutes of the second half and sitting out the next 13:15, Doucet of Austell, Ga., returned with FVSU trailing 63-59 with 3:32 in regulation. Following a free throw, his 3-pointer at 2:12 to go drew the Wildcats back to within two, 65-63. K.J.'s free throw with 32 seconds left gave the team a 67-65 lead. In the overtime, Doucet put the first points on the scoreboard with three free throws, added a jump shot at 2:01 left to increase the home lead to 77-72 and put one more point in his column with 40 ticks left for the final home points.

On the night, Doucet finished with his new season-high of 25 points on 7 of 13 field goals, 2 of 3 from beyond the arc and 9 of 12 free throws. He also grabbed eight rebounds to go with two assists and two steals.
