Wildcats’ Lowe Adds Another SIAC Men’s Basketball Newcomer of the Week Honor

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Wildcats new point guard has stayed on the league's weekly radar again. For the third time, Fort Valley Stats' Myson Lowe picked up the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Week honor.

Off the Wildcats 1-1 SIAC West road swing to Kentucky and Ohio last weekend, Lowe averaged 17.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and a steal per night in the contests. He connected on 15 of 28 field goals and 7 of 15 from 3-point range.

Behind Lowe and the Wildcats efforts, the men's basketball team takes six more wins into the week off for Christmas, a winning mark at 7-5 and a leading SIAC East record of 5-1.

Finishing off the weekend on Saturday afternoon, the Atlanta, Ga., native started the key seven-point run with the game tied, 52-52, with 6:50 at Central State. The Wildcats' lead grew to as many as 10 points twice before they completed the win, 80-75, over the Marauders.

Lowe's part of the second-half drive to win at Central State included 13 of his 16 points where he made 7 of 12 attempts with a pair of treys, four assists and a steal.

Against Kentucky State last Thursday night, the sophomore point guard led FVSU with 21 points in the tough 82-75 loss. He scored his points by making 8 of 16 shots and downing 5 of 9 from beyond the arc to go with four rebounds, four assists and a steal.

In 12 games this season, Myson holds averages of 12.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists per night while he has a team-high in 3-pointers with 25.

FVSU returns to action at home a week from Friday afternoon, Dec. 30, with a 3 p.m. contest against the University of Fort Lauderdale.
