FORT VALLEY, Ga. –
The young Wildcats are ready to make their next move. Fort Valley State hosts Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East Division preseason women's volleyball favorite Albany State to open the 2022 season Thursday night.

The Wildcats and Golden Rams will have the first serve be at 7 p.m. in the HPE Arena.

Leading the defense, libero Elizabeth Moore (Colman, SD) will guide the backrow. Moore dug 248 attacks (2.95 digs/set) go to with 44 aces and 40 assists.

FVSU has the top four frontline hitters in sophomores Raven Edwards (Merrillville, Ind.), Bianca Haslett (Atlanta, Ga.), Laiani McCullough (Beaufort, S.C.) and Syraih Wint (Fresno, Calif.). Edwards downed 176 kills and dug 113 balls, while Haslett lined 155 kills with 25 aces and 13 blocks.

McCullough chipped in 135 kills to go with 66 assists, 37 aces, 154 digs and 19 blocks. Wint added 83 kills, 24 aces and a team-best 38 total blocks.

Naadira Jones (So., Florence, S.C.) and Destinee Jackson (Sr., Lawrenceville, Ga.) both bring another pair of experienced hitters to the frontline after combining for 114 kills and 33 blocks last fall.

Also returning to the lineup, another pair of sophomores are Setene Green (Orangeburg, S.C.), Chioma Onuoha (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and junior Samariah Smith (Statesboro, Ga.)
