FVSU heads into the home games after it snapped a three-game losing skid with a Monday night victory at Edward Waters (80-73). The Wildcats victory pushed them back to the .500 mark at 8-8 and kept them in second place in the SIAC East (6-3), one game out of first place.

With a win on Saturday against Allen, FVSU would record its ninth victory, the most wins since it finished at 13-16 for the 2017-18 campaign. It would also set a new high since the same season with seven SIAC wins.

FVSU tries to get another home win as it started 4-0 before it dropped the last two at the HPE Arena to the University of Fort Lauderdale (71-59) and SIAC West-leader Miles College (55-50) on Jan. 4.

The Wildcats split the inaugural series with the Yellow Jackets of Allen last season with each winning on their home court.

Saturday – Jan. 14
vs. Allen

1/29/22 - @FVSU 73, AU 57
2/7/22 – @AU 77, FVSU 69

Allen comes in on a seven-game losing streak and only 1-13 overall this season. The Yellow Jackets lone victory came on Dec. 5 in a 77-54 final over the Marauders of Central State. Allen has dropped all eight of its away games.

Allen fell by an 82-56 score against Morehouse College last Saturday before it lost a much closer, 67-61, decision to Clark Atlanta on Monday.

Monday – Jan. 16
vs. Benedict College

FVSU splits its season series last year with the defending regular season SIAC East champion Benedict. The Wildcats pulled off the home upset (61-58) last Jan. 31 in Fort Valley, before the Tigers edged out an 80-75 win five days later in Columbia.

FVSU came 10 seconds away from playing Benedict a third time last year in the SIAC Semifinals before Miles College hit a game-tying 3-pointer and went on the Quaterfinals meeting in overtime.

Benedict finished 22-7 last season and 14-3 in the SIAC East. It fell short of taking the SIAC crown and an NCAA South Region berth when Savannah State won the SIAC Championship game, 76-62.

Benedict goes into the weekend winning its last two contests – Jan. 7 vs. Clark Atlanta (63-53) and Jan. 9 vs. Morehouse (78-75).
