FORT VALLEY, Ga. – It appeared it was the Wildcats night with a resounding first 10 minutes of play Wednesday evening. Fort Valley State raced out to a 12-point lead after a quarter, but Clark Atlanta's strong finish was enough to reverse fortunes and take the 46-38 women's basketball victory.

Following the opening Lady Panthers bucket, the Wildcats rattled off 15-straight points on the way to 17-5 advantage after a quarter. Clark Atlanta, though, whittled a nine-point halftime deficit down to three after 30 minutes of play. The visitors put the first 14 points over a 4:42 span to open the final period for a 41-30 newfound lead and rode it the rest of the way. A Torri Myers inside bucket with 57 seconds did bring FVSU back to within five points, but it made it no closer.

Myers finished with top point honors for the Wildcats (4-12/4-9 SIAC East) with nine points to go with her nine rebounds and three blocks. Ja'Nya Ferguson added eight tallies, 10 board and three steals.

Both teams had a tough night shooting as they combined to go only 27 of 101 attempts.

Hannah White led all scorers with 19 points for Clark Atlanta (10-8/9-4 SIAC East).

The two teams will begin the second round of SIAC East play against each other on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 28, in a 1 p.m. contest in Atlanta.
