Lions Edge Past Wildcats Men's Volleyball

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – A Wildcats solid start was unable to last Tuesday night. Fort Valley State went out strong to capture the opening set but visiting Emmanuel College edged out the next three sets for the 3-1 men's volleyball victory.

FVSU (1-5) built a six-point lead, 14-8, midway through the first set and grew it to as many as eight (21-13) before it forced Emmanuel (3-4) into an attack error to complete the home win, 25-20. Set number two went the exact opposite of the opener as the Lions led by six until they took a 25-21 final. The final two sets were back-and-forth, but Emmanuel had just enough to edge out 25-21 and 25-22 wins to end the match.

Isaiah Fedd paced the FVSU hitters with 22 kills to go with six digs and two aces. Jamil Scott downed 11 winners with only two errors in 19 attacks for a .474 attack percentage. Jaxon Hicks chipped in 10 kills, five digs, a block and an ace. Jose Gallardo accounted for 48 assists and eight digs.
