Wildcats Hold Home Court, Beat Marauders for Second Win in a Row

FORT VALLEY, Ga. -- The Wildcats reaped the rewards of their best back-to-back games Monday night. Fort Valley State held its home court and claimed its Second men's basketball victory in a row, 80-69, over Central State.

After a strong final three minutes of the first half and opening two second-half minutes, FVSU outscored its foe, 13-1, to open a 41-29 lead. The Marauders battled back to within five points and It remained a two-possession game, 71-65, with 3:46 remaining. From there, the Wildcats shut the door with four-straight buckets from four different players, including a Sincere Whitehead dunk.

Myson Lowe pumped in 4 of 9 treys as part of his team-best 18 points to go with three rebounds, two assists and a steal. Khadim Samb added 15 tallies on 7 of 12 shooting on the insiste and six boards.

Kenton Eskridge handed out nine assists and totaled eight points, while Jahlen Jack also had eight points. Jamal Reynolds and Quincy Young rounded out the effort with seven and six tallies.

Raevon Thomas led all scorers for the Marauders with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Central State started the night on a 12-4 run before Reynolds and Pierre Mitchell drained 3-pointers for a sudden 17-14 Wildcat advantage.

FVSU will now be off until it plays an exhibition contest at NCAA DI Jacksonville State on Dec. 28.
