MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Wildcats Saturday start was not their best, but their finish sure was. Fort Valley State stormed to its third-straight women's basketball victory with a late flurry for the 52-43 road win over LeMoyne-Owen College.

After falling behind by nine points following the opening quarter, FVSU (3-2/3-0 SIAC East) chipped away at the deficit for the final 30 minutes. Trailing by four at half, the Wildcats tied the contest at 26-26 heading into the final frame.

Behind 34-32 at the clock slipped under six minutes to play, Taylor Addison swiped the home pass and found Shekinah Rachel for a fastbreak layup to start what would become a 15-2 key run over the next five minutes of play. Cori Barnes drilled a trey with 5:16 left to give FVSU the lead for good, 37-34, before Addison added her own 3-points and layup to continue the spurt to what would become a 47-36 advantage with 2:57 to play. LeMoyne-Owen was only able to get within six points, 49-43, with 27 seconds before the final buzzer.

Addison finished 4 for 4 from the field and made all three of her triples for a team-high 13 points to go with six steals. Ayana Cockrell chipped in 11 points and two assists, while Barnes netted nine points off the visitors' bench.

Jaya Hedgepath led LOC with 11 points.

FVSU will stay on the road for the second part of its Tennessee road trip with a 6:30 p.m. EST contest at Lane College Monday evening, Dec. 5.
