Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Chris Myers

Lane Answers FVSU and Takes Men’s Hoops Contest

JACKSON, Tenn. -- The Wildcats clawed their way to within a point, but they couldn't retake the advantage. After a pair of Jamal Reynolds free throws to cut the Fort Valley State deficit to one, Lane College answered with the next eight points and rode the spurt to a 74-63 men's basketball final score.

FVSU (1-8) went from a five-point deficit to a one-point lead after Kenton Eskridge laid in a bucket and made two free throws before Khadim Samb pushed the visitors ahead, 46-45, at 13:50. Myson Lowe gave the Wildcats a three-point advantage, 50-47, before the Dragons rattled off the next 10 points over a 3:40 period time for a 57-50 tally. The Reynolds two foul shots turned out to be as close FVSU would get at 4:55 left to play.

Lowe pumped in 21 points on 8 of 15 shots and handed out one assist. Eskridge was a perfect 13 of 13 from the charity stripe as part of his 19 points, two assists and three steals. Samb added eight points and 12 rebounds.

Darrell Johnson led all scorers with 22 points for the Dragons.

FVSU will have the rest of the week off for finals before it hosts Clayton State on Tuesday night, Dec. 12, in a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
