Fedd and Martin Earn SIAC Men’s Volleyball Honors

ATLANTA, Ga. – A pair of talented first-year Wildcats received league recognition. Fort Valley State freshmen Isaiah Fedd and Taviian Martin earned Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors announced Thursday.

The two Wildcat freshmen have made their presence felt in the opening 2023 matches. Over 49 sets played combined, Fedd and Martin have pounded 177 kills over 334 total attacks with a .371 attack percentage to go with 22 service aces, 48 digs and 30 total blocks.

After being named the Off the Block National Outside Attacker of the Week a week ago, Fedd of Apopka, Fla., added the first SIAC Offensive Player of the Week to his credit. The 6-3 outside hitter has led the FVSU offense with 148 kills (4.63 kills per set), .362 hit percentage, 11 assists, 21 service aces, 44 digs and 11 blocks in 32 sets. He posted a season-high 33 kills in 55 swings for a .545 hitting percentage in a 5-set home marathon against King University on Jan. 27. Last week, Fedd recorded 47 kills, 14 digs, five aces, four assists and a block in matches against Emmanuel and the rematch at King University.

Martin of Orangeburg, S.C., has made his presence felt in the 17 sets and four matches he has played. The 6-9 middle blocker has 19 total blocks, 29 kills (1.71 kills/set), .414 attack percentage, four digs and an ace. Upon returning to the lineup last Friday, the freshman finished with 10 kills with two errors in 18 attacks for a .444 hitting percentage to go with six blocks and a dig at King University.

FVSU has off now until it travels to Banner Elk, N.C., next Thursday night, Feb. 16, in a 7 p.m. match at Lees-McRae College.
