Hicks and Yates Garner SIAC Men’s Volleyball Weekly Honors

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Wildcats took two of the three league weekly awards. Fort Valley State's Jaxon Hicks and Justin Yates garnered the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Offensive and Setter of the Week honors.

In the Wildcats lone match last week against the Knights of Belmont Abbey College, Hicks led the team with nine kills, while Yates handed out 24 assists in the effort. Along with his nine kills, Hicks, a sophomore from Beach Park, Ill., added three digs, a block and an ace. The second-year setter from Carlsbad, Calif. Recorded four digs and three kills to go with his assists.

On the year, Hicks has 119 kills, 53 digs, 21 total blocks and seven aces. Yates has 445 assists to go with 75 digs, 26 kills, 17 total blocks and six aces.

The two Wildcats and the FVSU team heads north to Tennessee for a pair of weekend matches starting at Tusculum University on Friday evening (Mar. 17) starting at 6 p.m.
