Williams and Madison Lead FVSU at Morehouse Relays

ATLANTA, Ga. –
After the third day was over on Saturday, the Wildcats came away with some impressive performances. Fort Valley State saw Joe Williams win the shot put and was third in the javelin, while Briana Madison placed in the top five twice for the women at the Morehouse Relays track and field event.
 
In the field events, fresh from pulling down rebounds and slamming dunk on fast breaks Williams threw 14.25 meters on his second attempt for the shot put to win the event buy 1.07 meters. He also heaved the javelin 48.31 meters for third.
 
After qualifying for the finals on Friday, Madison followed it up with a third place in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.66. She also claimed fifth place in the long jump (4.97m) and was part of the eighth-place 4x200-meter relay along with Tania Hall, Ternya Gibson and Jaylin Rivers in 2:00.13.
 
The Wildcat men also had a pair of quality relay performances. The group of Da'Veon Jenkins, Terrell Williams, Cameron Tomlinson and Jonathan Kelly raced to third (3:21.11) in the 4x400 relay. Harold Shirley and Jaden Rudolph joined Kelly and Jenkins for a fourth place in the 4x200 relay in 1:30.38.
 
Individually, Donte Gosier leaped 6.77 meters for fifth in the long jump. While Terrell Williams ran to fifth in the 800 meters (1:57.71). Shirley sprinted to sixth in the 100-meter dash (11.03) and Kelly was seventh for the 400 meters (50.94).
 
Marcus Jefferson, Jenkins, Rudolph and Shirley combined to run 43.01 for seventh in the 4x100 relay.
 
Along with Madison, Na'dejah Batt threw 10.66 meters for fifth in the hammer throw. Miniya Miller added a sixth place in the discus (39.44m). Kerr joined Madison in seventh for the long jump (4.89m) and she was also eighth in the triple jump (10.66m).
 
Rivers rounded out the Wildcat women's effort with eighth in the 400 meters in a time of 1:15.94.
 
The FVSU track & field teams return to action on Saturday, April 1, at the West Georgia Legends Invitational.
