Williams Throws His Way to SIAC Field Athlete of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. – In his first campaign on the team, the lefty Wildcat is making his mark. Fort Valley State's Joe Williams threw his way to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week after he won the Morehouse Relays shot put and placed third in the javelin last weekend.

Williams, a junior from Statesboro, Ga., heaved the shot put 14.25 meters for the top spot and 1.07 meters better than the second-place finisher. The Wildcat also threw the javelin 48.31 meters for a third-place finish.

The FVSU track & field teams return to action on Saturday, April 1, at the West Georgia Legends Invitational.
