Yates Receives Second SIAC Men’s Volleyball Setter of the Week Honor

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Wildcats are back in the league's weekly award winners. For the second time this season, Fort Valley State's Justin Yates received the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Setter of the Week honor.

Opening SIAC play with a split, Yates recorded 55 assists, 11 digs, four kills, three block assists and an ace in the 1-1 road swing. The Carlsbad, Calif., native produced 26 assists, five digs, and two kills against Central State. In a win over Kentucky State, the sophomore added 29 assists, six digs, three block assists, two kills, and an ace.

The FVSU setter is currently ranked Top 30 in the NCAA for assists per set averaging 8.83 per set (415 assists in 47 sets). Yates also has 70 digs, 17 blocks, 11 kills and four aces on the season.

Yates and the Wildcats return to action this Saturday afternoon (March 11) in a 4 p.m. home match against Belmont Abbey College.
