Wildcats Tripped up by Tigers in SIAC Semis

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – After morning success, the Wildcats could not duplicate it against the league's top-seeded team. Edward Waters tripped up Fort Valley State in straight sets, 3-0, in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Semifinals Thursday afternoon.

The match started even over the opening 14 points, 7-7, but the Tigers seized the next three points and slowly established a lead of 17-10, before holding off a late home charge, 25-19. FVSU (8-20) went out to a 10-8 advantage in set number two, but four-straight Edward Waters tallies turned the tied as the top seed made it two sets in a row, 25-17. Deadlocked at 6-6, Edward Waters proved its mettle with the next six points in a row, 12-6, and it held FVSU from getting any closer than five points until the eventual 25-18 final.

Taviian Martin led the Wildcat frontline with 10 kills to go with two blocks and three digs. Isaiah Fedd added six winners, four digs, and an ace. Justin Yates and Jose Gallardo combined for 22 assists.

Both Evens Edouard and Bryan Peppen downed 15 kills for the Tigers.
