Wilson Makes Packers 53-Man Roster, Becomes 14th Wildcat to Reach NFL

8/29/2023 9:05:00 PM

GREEN BAY, Wis. – A Wildcat dream came true on Tuesday. Fort Valley State football alum Emanuel Wilson learned he made the Green Bay Packers 53-man roster as one of the NFL team's three running backs and he will become the 14th Wildcat alum to play in an NFL game in just over a week.

After his stellar 2022 season where he earned the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year and All-American honors, Wilson initially signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent. After a weekend with the Broncos, the former Wildcat took his cleats to Green Bay and found a Green & Gold opportunity in the Packer backfield.

Wilson made a big first impression with 111 yards on six carries and two touchdowns, including an 80-yarder, against Cincinnati to open the three-game preseason slate. The Charlotte, N.C., native added 69 against New England and 59 yards versus Seattle to complete the trio of preseason contests.

The now Packer running back joins starter Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon as the three Green Bay running backs on the 53-man roster.

Wilson and the Packers kick-off their NFL season on Sunday, September 10, in a 4:25 p.m. EST start at the Bears in Chicago. He returns to Georgia for Week 2 when Green Bay travels to Atlanta on Sunday, September 17.
