WILBERFORCE, Ohio – The Wildcats won the second 20 minutes for the third time in the early season. Fort Valley State found a tough road evening as Central State started fast and rode it the rest of the way for a 77-62 men's basketball win.
Central State was not a hospitable host as it pumped in 16 of the contest's first 18 points in the opening 4:43. FVSU was able to get back to a 10-point margin, 16-6, with the following four points. On a pair of Marcus Scott free throws and a Jahlen Jack layup, the Wildcats decreased the difference to seven points, 30-23, at 4:43 before half. The Marauders, though, netted a 12-1 streak to half and never were truly challenged in the second 20 minutes.
FVSU (0-3/0-1 SIAC East) struggled from 3-point range as it made only 3 of 17 tries and were outrebounded by CSU (1-2/1-0 SIAC West), 46-30.
Off the visiting bench, Sayerr Senghore and Mike Robinson both hit for double figures. Senghore made 5 of 9 shots for 11 points to go with six rebounds and two steals, while Robinson downed a pair of treys as part of his 10-point effort. Scott also totaled seven points when he came into the game, all in the first half and grabbed three boards.
Jack and Khirus Doucet led the FVSU starting five with eight points apiece. Jack stole three passes and Doucet handed out four assists. Davorian Rudolph added six points and seven rebounds. Micah Glover and Hassane Diallo contributed five points each.
Ramar Pryor led all scorers with 23 points for Central State.
Glover netted a tip-in, a layup and a foul shot and Diallo a layup mixed in as FVSU put up the contest's final seven points in the last two minutes.
