Box Score

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Wildcats left no doubt on Saturday's outcome. Fort Valley State raced out with the first 17 points, did not allow an opponent field goal until the opening second-quarter seconds and rode to a 79-45 over Thomas University in women's basketball.

The Wildcats drained a trio of 3-pointers, one each by Camryn Oneill, Aaniyah Allen and Cori Barnes, for an 11-0 quick lead in the first 3:24. Marley Bell added four more points and Oneill another layup for a 17-0 margin. FVSU did not allow Thomas to hit a field goal until eight seconds into the second quarter. The NightHawks pulled to within a dozen, 35-23, with 5:11 in the second only to see the Wildcats pop the next 10 points and never allowed the home team to challenge in the final 21 minutes.

After falling in two close road SIAC West crossover games last weekend, FVSU (2-2) was able to get back on track by winning the first meeting against Thomas (2-6).

The Wildcats claimed a 46-35 rebound advantage and forced 23 NightHawk turnovers.

Oneill and Barnes paced the FVSU effort with 18 points apiece. Oneill made 7 of 11 field goal, including a pair of treys, to go with four rebounds, five steals and three assists. Barnes hit four triples, while she had three boards and two assists. Allen completed the three double-digit scorers with 11 points on 4 of 7 shooting to go with six caroms, four assists, two steals and a blocked shot.

Delissa Kier put together four rebounds, two points and a block, while Ja'Nya Ferguson pulled in a team-high seven boards.

The FVSU bench produced 29 of the team's 79 points. Ace Stevenson led the group with seven tallies and had three rebounds. Jamera Bean added six points, while Arieonna Booker contributed six points and five rebounds. Bell finished with four points, six rebounds and two blocks, while Jalexicia Hargove had one bucket.

Early in the final period, Thomas cut the score back to 20 points, 58-38, only to see Barnes pumped in eight of the nine points of the ensuing FVSU run and ended any home surge, 67-48, at 7:21.

FVSU will return to road action on Tuesday evening, Nov. 26, in a 5:30 p.m. matchup at Georgia College.
