FAIRFIELD, Ala. – The Wildcats started December in a tough way. Miles College slowly built a double-figure lead over the first half and rode it past Fort Valley State, 82-54, in men's basketball action.

The host Golden Bears (5-2/2-0 SIAC West) put the game's first five points on the scoreboard and never trailed. Both Hassane Diallo and Khirus Doucet made a pair of early free throws to pull FVSU (1-7/0-4 SIAC East) within three, 5-2 and 7-4. Miles scored the ensuing six points and allowed FVSU only to within five points, 13-8, one time on a Diallo layup at 15:13 in the first half.

The Wildcats committed 20 turnovers in the game, while the Golden Bears downed 10 treys to the visitors' three.

Diallo and Davorian Rudolph garnered top Wildcat honors with 12 points apiece. Diallo made 4 of 7 field goals and all four free throws and blocked a shot. Rudolph connected on a pair of 3-pointers, while he handed out two assists and picked off two passes.

Jaylen Jackson came off the bench for nine points, five boards and a pair of blocked shots. Doucet chipped in four points, five caroms, four assists and a steal. Sayerr Senghore added four points and six boards and Micah Glover contributed four points and three rebounds. Jahlen Jack had three points, three rebounds and three assists.

Dorian Staples led all scorers with 24 points for Miles.

FVSU will have the next week off before it plays next Wednesday night, Dec. 11, in a 7:30 p.m. contest at Clayton State.
