JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Wildcats stepped up in competition to get ready for more upcoming league action. Fort Valley State held its own early, but Jacksonville State prevailed in a 111-70 men's basketball exhibition game Monday night.
The Wildcats had a pair of early ties and only trailed 10-7 after a Sayerr Senghore layup three minutes into the contest. The Gamecocks, though, registered a 10-0 run two minutes later and went on for the victory.
Jahlen Jack produced his best game of the FVSU season with 19 points on 7 of 12 shooting, including downing both his 3-point attempts to go with two rebounds, assists and steals. Jaylen Jackson connected on 7 of 16 tries for 15 points and four caroms off the visitors' bench.
Antonio Pelham hit double figures for the first time of the year with 12 points, all off 3-pointers, and grabbed four boards. Hassane Diallo added 10 points on 5 of 8 shots along with two rebounds, a pair of steals and a blocked shot.
Senghore chipped in nine tallies and three rebounds. Khirus Doucet led the Wildcats in assists with five and had three points. Eric Wright Jr. completed the scoring with a bucket for two points.
Jaron Pierre Jr. led Jacksonville State with 29 points off five treys.
FVSU returns to action this Thursday, Jan. 2, in a 7:30 p.m. tip-off against Lemoyne-Owen College in Fort Valley.
