FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Wildcats returned to the win column Friday evening. Fort Valley State went out to leads in the opening two sets before it bounced Talladega College in straight sets, 3-0, for men's volleyball.
FVSU turned a 3-point early lead into a double-digit one in a matter of minutes to take the opening set, 25-14. The Wildcats doubled a 4-point set number two advantage to eight, 18-10, to propel them to a 2-0 lead with the 25-18 final. Trailing 5-3 early in the third set, FVSU flipped the script to a 12-8 lead and never lost the edge to end the match, 25-20.
Raheem Thomas paced the home offense with eight kills and a block as FVSU evened it season mark to 4-4. Isaiah Fedd downed seven kills of his own to go with eight digs and three blocks. Saferino Dour chipped in six winners, four total blocks and three digs. Jaxon Hicks and Chey Cooper both added five kills with Hicks having 10 digs and Cooper eight.
Libero Diego Cardona led the Wildcat defense with 12 digs, while Jose Gallardo handed out 23 assists to go with four digs, an ace and one kill.
Malik Foreman led Talladega with eight kills.
FVSU will have two weeks off before it heads into Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play and hosts Central State on Friday evening (March 1). First serve is set for 5 p.m.
