KENNESAW, Ga. – The Wildcats took on a tough field this weekend. Fort Valley State track and field competed at Kennesaw State's Don McGary Invitational.
D'liyah Austell raced for fifth in the 100 meters in 12.46 seconds and the men's 4x100-meter relay team of De'Veon Jenkins, Cornelius Cooks II, Adetoro Adenuga and Waylon Williams posted the fifth-best time of 41.93.
Along with her fifth placing in the 100, Austell added a sixth in the other sprints of the 200 meters in 25.42. The junior also was part of the sixth place 4x100-meter relay with Caly Cage, Aquila Kerr and Bridgette Clarke in 48.77.
Kerr also registered a seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 11.34 meters and 11th in the long jump (5.33m). Montana Williams ran across the finish in 10th for the 10,000 meters (51:48.32).
Cooks garnered ninth in both the 200 meters (22.42) and 100 meters (11.20).
In the men's field side, Joe Williams threw 14.17 meters in the shot put for ninth and Bashan Wesley jumped ninth for the triple jump (13.76m).
Both FVSU teams head to Atlanta this week for the Morehouse College Relays from Thursday through Saturday (March 28-30).
