Cooks & Williams Push FVSU to Strong 4th Place at SIAC Men’s Track & Field Championship

, Ga. – The Wildcats wrapped up a solid team performance on Saturday. Cornelius Cooks II and Terrell Williams pushed Fort Valley State to a strong fourth place team finish at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Track & Field Championship.

Cooks continues to improved in the sprints and the sophomore ran to runner-up finishes in both the 100 meters in 10.82 and 200 meters in 21.16 for 16 team points. Cooks also ran the anchor leg after Marcus Jefferson, Bashan Wesley and Da'Veon Jenkins covered the opening turns of the third-place FVSU 4x100-meter relay team in 40.77.

Terrell Williams completed another impressive 800-meter event with a second place in a time of 1:59.39.

As a team, FVSU recorded a solid 82 team points and fourth place overall finish. Benedict College won the team title by 28 points over Morehouse College, 192 to 164,

In the hurdles, Andre Milner garnered fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.14.

Ending the last event of the day, the Wildcat 4x400-meter relay quartet of Jenkins, Milner, Jaden Rudolph and Terrell Williams took seventh place in 3:22.40.

After winning the shot put on Friday, Joe Williams added an eighth place in the javelin with a throw of 43.06 meters.

The FVSU national qualifiers will have a month off until the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be May 23-25 in Emporia, KS.
