COLUMBUS, Ga. – Fort Valley State University Football finished the 2025 season with a 48-3 loss to Albany State University in the 35th Annual Fountain City Classic on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats close the year with a 4-6 overall record and a 4-4 mark in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, while the Golden Rams improved to 9-1 overall and 8-0 in the league.
Albany State struck first, capping a five-play, 67-yard drive with a 45-yard touchdown pass and a successful extra point. It was the only score of the first quarter.
Fort Valley State answered early in the second quarter with a 45-yard field goal from
Kyle Keese, cutting the deficit to 7-3. Albany State responded with a 34-yard rushing touchdown to make it 14-3, then extended its lead with an interception returned for a touchdown. The Golden Rams added a one-yard rushing score and a three-yard passing touchdown to take a 35-3 advantage into halftime.
Both defenses held strong through the third quarter, keeping the scoreboard unchanged. Albany State added to its lead in the fourth with a 16-yard rushing touchdown and another interception returned for a score to close out the game 48-3.
Jai'Que Hart led the Wildcats' quarterback group, completing five passes for 42 yards.
Alexander Wilson paced the rushing attack with 22 yards on seven carries, while Donte Curry led the receivers with three catches for 27 yards.
On the defensive side,
Jadyn Walker anchored the Wildcats with nine tackles, including an assisted tackle for loss.
K.J. Spence added eight tackles and one tackle for loss of two yards, along with a blocked kick that helped limit Albany State to just one score in the opening quarter.
Omarion LaRoach led the effort in tackles for loss with two for seven yards and recorded one sack for six yards.
Elan Hall was named the FVSU Fountain City Classic MVP, finishing the day with seven punts for 270 yards and two kickoffs totaling 132 yards.
