FVSU clean up weekly awards as SIAC powerhouse

ATLANTA, Ga.- Fort Valley State University men's volleyball secure clean sweep in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) weekly honors. 

Constantine Ononye was named the SIAC Defensive Player of the Week. Oshane Farquharson was named SIAC Setter of the Week. Raheem Thomas was named SIAC Offensive Player of the Week. 

Ononye tallied 17 digs in two, three-set matches against Central State University (OH.). He nabbed double digits in the first contest covering the floor with 11 digs. To round out the two match week, Ononye snagged eight more digs in the second contest. 

Farquharson put up 34 assists, three kills and two block assists through two matches. His most impressive match was the first game with CSU where he had 26 assists and two kills. In just two sets on Saturday, Farquharson totaled 17 assists with a kill and two block assists.

Thomas earned Offensive Player of the Week putting up 17 kills to hit .409 percent and two service aces. His balanced attack led to a six kill first match in three sets and a nine kill second match in just two sets. Thomas also added a block assist to his first contest boxscore and three in the second contest. He also nabbed two service aces in the second match. 

The Wildcats sit atop the conference rankings with a perfect 8-0 record. They will look to remain perfect when they take on LeMoyne-Owen College on Friday, April 4th at 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 5 at 1 p.m.
