FORT VALLEY, Ga.- Fort Valley State University men's volleyball snag seven Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) All-Conference Honors including Coach of the Year, Player of the Year and Setter of the Year.
The Apopka, Fla. junior
Isaiah Fedd was named as the SIAC Player of the Year. Fedd appeared in 24 SIAC sets tallying 84 kills good for 3.5 per set and a .448 hitting percentage. He has been fire behind the service line with 18 service aces good for .75 per set. Fedd ranks eighth in the nation in aces per set. On defense, he had 34 digs, 1.42 per set. Fedd stood strong at the net with three solo blocks and seven block assists totaling 10 for the SIAC season. Fedd leads the conference in both hitting percetnage and service aces. He also ranks second in kills per set.
Hollywood, Fla. senior
Oshane Farquharson was named as the SIAC Setter of the Year. Farquharson played in 23 sets with a 172 assists equaling 7.48 per set. He also showed a little slight of hand at the net with 17 kills for a .300 hitting percentage on setter dumps. On defense, Farquharson snared 37 digs. He had a strong presence at the net with two solo blocks and eight block assists good for 10 on the season and .43 per set. Farquharson ranks fourth in the conference for assists and ninth in digs.
The Orangeburg, S.C. junior
Taviian Martin earned a spot on the All-SIAC First Team. Martin played in 20 sets and showed his prowess at the net with five solo blocks and 14 block assists. He totaled almost 20 total blocks on the season with .95 per set. Martin racked up points in more ways than one with 44 kills on the season while hitting .360 percent. He also tallied 26 digs. Martin ranks fourth in the conference in blocks and sixth in hitting percentage.
Beach Park, Ill. senior
Jaxon Hicks nabbed a Second Team All-SIAC mention. Hicks appeared in 27 sets with an impressive 71 kills while hitting .368. He accounted for 2.63 kills per set. Was stellar on defense with ground and air presence. In the ground game, Hicks has 35 digs, 1.30 per set. At the net he had three solo blocks and 11 block assists for 14 on the season. Hicks ranks fourth in the conference in hitting percentage and fifth in kills per set.
Alongside their SIAC superlatives, Fedd and Farquharson were both named to the First Team All-SIAC.
Head Coach
Larry Wrather was named the SIAC Coach of the Year. Wrather led the Wildcats to a perfect 12-0 SIAC season. FVSU only lost a single regular season conference set. Wrather also led Fort Valley to be the first program in SIAC men's volleyball history to win back-to-back regular season titles.
The Wildcats will kick off their SIAC Tournament appearance at 6 p.m. with the opponent to be determined.
