FORT VALLEY, Ga.- Fort Valley State University, in partnership with the Growl Club, proudly announces the 16th Annual Lomax-Porter Charity Golf Tournament, set for Saturday, June 21, 2025, at River North Country Club in Macon, Georgia. Named in honor of legendary Wildcat football coaches Stan Lomax and Douglas Porter, the tournament celebrates their legacies while raising vital funds to support scholarships for students and student-athletes, as well as the advancement of FVSU athletic programs.
The tournament will feature a four-person scramble format, with registration opening at 7:30 a.m. and a shotgun start scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Golfers of all experience levels are encouraged to participate in a day of spirited competition, camaraderie, and support for Wildcat Athletics. Awards will be presented to the winning teams.
A variety of sponsorship opportunities are available to individuals and businesses looking to support the event and the FVSU community. The Platinum Corporate Sponsor level, at $5,000, includes an official Lomax-Porter Golf Tournament plaque, the company's logo featured on the FVSU athletic website, a banner displayed at Wildcat Stadium, hole signage, one RV parking spot for FVSU Homecoming, four golf teams, ten tickets to the Fountain City Classic, and four 2025 football season tickets. The Gold Corporate Sponsor level, priced at $3,500, includes a tournament plaque, banner at Wildcat Stadium, hole signage, three teams, seven Fountain City Classic tickets, and two football season tickets. The Blue Corporate Sponsor level, offered at $2,000, includes a banner at Wildcat Stadium, hole signage, two golf teams, and five Fountain City Classic tickets. A Corporate Sponsor contribution of $1,000 provides hole signage, one golf team, and two Fountain City Classic tickets. Those interested in smaller commitments can support the event as Hole Sponsors for $300, which includes exclusive signage at one tournament hole.
Registration for the tournament is open now. Early bird registration, available through June 13, is $150 per individual and $500 per team. Late registration, from June 14 through June 21, is $200 per individual and $700 per team. Payments can be made via check or credit card, with accepted cards including American Express, MasterCard, and Visa. Checks should be made payable to the FVSU Foundation with "LPGT 2025" in the memo line and mailed to FVSU Foundation, 1005 State University Drive, Fort Valley, GA 31030. Online payment options are also available.
The tournament is part of the broader excitement surrounding the upcoming 2025 Wildcat Football season. The Wildcats kicks off the season with an appearance in the Birmingham City Classic in Birmingham, Alabama against the University of West Alabama.
