FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Fort Valley State University Women's Basketball is proud to announce the addition of a decorated former Elizabeth City State University standout NyAsia Blango to its coaching staff.

"I am excited to have NyAsia Blango on staff," said Head Coach LaToya Jones. "She was a fierce competitor, conference champion, All-Conference player, NCAA participant and Most Valuable Player while representing Elizabeth City State University. NyAsia left her mark on HBCU soil in the CIAA as a player, and I am excited about the elevation and player perspective that she will give to the young ladies and to this program"

A graduate of ECSU, she earned bachelor's degrees in Sports Management and Psychology while helping guide the Vikings to historic success on the court. Over her collegiate career, she tallied 209 assists, 344 rebounds, 129 steals, and 857 points, establishing herself as one of the program's most versatile players.

Her playing career includes multiple championships and top honors, highlighted by the 2023 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Championship, the 2024 CIAA Northern Division title, and recognition as the 2023 ECSU Female Athlete of the Year. She was named the 2023 CIAA Tournament Most Valuable Player, earned four CIAA Player of the Week honors, and was a three-time All-CIAA Tournament Team selection. Her impact was felt from her very first season, when she was named 2019 CIAA Rookie of the Year, to her senior campaign as a two-time recipient of the CMI Protecting the Greater Good Award.

"We are so excited to bring Nyasia Blango to the Valley," said Director of Athletics Daphnie Johnson. "Blango was a superstar at ECSU and I am thrilled to see how she enhances our program."

Known for her leadership, determination, and excellence both on and off the court, she now brings her championship pedigree and experience to Fort Valley State, where she will help develop the next generation of Wildcats.
