Wildcats Fall on the Road at No. 17 CSUN

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Fort Valley State University Men's Volleyball (1-4) closed its West Coast trip with a 3-0 loss vs. No. 17 CSUN (6-1), Monday evening.

The Wildcats struck first on a kill from Isaiah Fedd, setting the tone early in the opening frame. The set remained back-and-forth until the Matadors used an 8-1 run to build a 19-12 advantage that proved decisive. CSUN closed the set with consecutive kills to take a 25-16 win.

CSUN opened the second set with the first point, but FVSU answered with two straight, capped by a kill from Muhammad Mbaye to take a 2-1 edge. The Matadors responded with three unanswered points and later used another three-point run to extend their lead to 13-9. The Wildcats mounted a late push, outscoring CSUN 5-1 to trim the deficit to 24-22, but a Matador kill sealed the 25-22 set win.

Fort Valley State fell behind early in the third frame, as CSUN jumped out to a 6-2 lead and continued to build momentum. Jamri Griffin notched a kill late to pull the Wildcats within 24-14, but the Matadors closed the match with a 25-14 victory.

Fedd led the Wildcats with nine kills, while Taviian Martin added five. Gaston and Logan Rogers each recorded 11 assists, and Mbaye anchored the defense with a solo block and a block assist.

Fort Valley State returns home to host Barry University in its home opener on Friday, January 30, at 6 p.m.
