Men’s Hoops Dominates Spring Hill, 101-61

FORT VALLEY, Ga.- Fort Valley State University Men's Basketball (10-8, 9-8 SIAC) cruise past Spring Hill College (2-17, 2-13 SIAC) in 101-61 Thursday evening victory.

The Wildcats struck first from long range, as Danny Delgardo III buried a three-pointer to give FVSU an early 3-2 lead. Fort Valley State quickly found its rhythm, using inside scoring from Sincere Whitehead and transition buckets to build momentum. A fastbreak layup by Aidan Lambert pushed the Wildcats ahead 7-5, and FVSU never looked back.

A three-pointer from Jahlen Jack extended the lead to 10-8, sparking a run that saw the Wildcats take a 15-11 advantage on a jumper from Derek Delgardo Jr. Efficient ball movement and perimeter shooting helped FVSU stretch the margin further, with a fastbreak three from Delgado Jr. making it 22-17 and another triple from C.J. Williams pushing the Wildcats ahead 28-17 midway through the first half. Fort Valley State closed the half on a surge, highlighted by back-to-back threes from Tyler Pendergrass and Jack, followed by a late triple from Delgado III, sending the Wildcats into the locker room with a commanding 49-30 lead.

The Wildcats picked up where they left off in the second half. Whitehead opened scoring with a layup to make it 51-30, and Williams followed with a three to extend the lead to 54-30. FVSU capitalized on transition opportunities, with Jack, Lambert, and Delgado Jr. converting fastbreak layups to stretch the margin to 60-32. Delgado III connected again from deep to make it 67-42, followed by another three from the senior guard, pushing the Wildcats ahead 74-43. Fort Valley State eclipsed 80 points with a three from Delgado Jr., taking an 81-47 lead with 8:12 remaining.

The Wildcats continued to pour it on, with Tim James, Demetrius Paul Jr., and Pendergrass all adding to the scoring column. A late three from Paul Jr. sealed the scoring and capped off a dominant 101-61 victory.

Fort Valley State showcased its depth with seven players scoring in double digits. Delgardo III led the way with 16 points on 50% shooting from the field and 4-for-6 from three-point range, while also dishing out nine assists. Williams added 15 points, going 4-for-7 from the field and 4-for-5 from long range, and Whitehead contributed 13 points on 5-for-6 shooting and 3-for-4 from the free-throw line. Delgardo Jr. and Jack led the rebounding effort with six each, rounding out a balanced team performance in which every Wildcat who saw the floor scored.

Fort Valley State returns to action on the road at Albany State University on Saturday, January 31, 2026, with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
