Box Score FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Fort Valley State Wildcats delivered a dominant performance Saturday afternoon, overpowering Benedict College in straight sets (25-17, 25-15, 25-22) inside the Health and Physical Education Complex. Fueled by a high-powered offense and relentless serving pressure, Fort Valley State controlled the match from start to finish to secure a decisive conference victory.
The Wildcats were nearly unstoppable on the attack, posting an impressive .355 hitting percentage while holding Benedict to just .096. Fort Valley State also turned the service line into a weapon, firing 10 aces to keep the Tigers off balance throughout the afternoon.
Leading the Wildcats' balanced offensive effort was Isaiah Fedd, who tallied 12 points behind 9 kills and 2 service aces. Jamari Griffin matched Fedd's scoring output with 12 points, delivering 9 kills and 3 aces to spark several momentum-shifting runs.
Keaton Long added 7 kills and created havoc from the service line with a team-high three aces, while Logan Rogers orchestrated the offense masterfully with 30 assists, consistently setting up Fort Valley State's attackers for clean scoring opportunities. Taviian Martin was nearly flawless offensively, recording 7 kills on just 9 attempts for a blistering .556 hitting percentage.
Fort Valley State wasted no time asserting control in Set 1, hitting a scorching .444 while Long ignited the crowd with three consecutive aces during a key serving run that pushed the Wildcats ahead 11-4. The early surge set the tone as FVSU cruised to a 25-17 opening-set win.
The Wildcats continued to roll in Set 2, where Griffin electrified the start with three aces in the first five points, helping Fort Valley State jump out to an early lead they would never relinquish. Dominant offense and suffocating defense powered the Wildcats to a convincing 25-15 victory.
Benedict mounted its strongest push in Set 3, briefly grabbing a 2-1 lead, but the Wildcats responded with a relentless offensive surge. Fort Valley State pounded down 19 kills in the final frame, with Martin delivering the match-clinching kill to seal the 25-22 win and complete the sweep.
Statistically, the Wildcats controlled every phase of the match, finishing with 41 kills, 10 aces, and 25 digs, while limiting Benedict to 22 kills, 3 aces, and 15 digs.
With the victory, Fort Valley State improves to 8-12 overall and remains undefeated in SIAC play at 2-0, continuing to build momentum as they take on the Kentucky State Thoroughbreds Friday March 20 at 6:00 p.m. ET in the HPE Arena.
