FORT VALLEY, Ga -- Fort Valley State closed out its SIAC series against Clark Atlanta with a strong statement, showcasing resilience and offensive firepower across the three-game set at Wildcat Field.
The Wildcats opened the series with an 8–4 loss, despite an impressive start. Fort Valley jumped out to an early 3–1 lead behind aggressive hitting and base running, highlighted by standout performances from Marley Quammie, Jasmin Stewart, and Tayler Graham. However, a big inning from Clark Atlanta shifted momentum. The Wildcats continued to compete late, with Danielle Bacon delivering a strong relief outing to keep the game within reach.
In Game 2, Fort Valley battled in a tightly contested 4–2 defeat, showing grit on both sides of the ball. Quammie again set the tone offensively, while contributions from Megan Blanks, Mariah Williams, Jennifer Ramirez, and Darianna Sosa kept pressure on the defense. In the circle, Amiyah Morrison turned in a complete-game effort, giving the Wildcats a chance to rally late, but missed opportunities ultimately proved costly.
Fort Valley responded emphatically in the finale, dominating Clark Atlanta 8–2 behind one of its most complete performances of the season. The Wildcats erupted for 16 hits, with Williams, Blanks, and Amira Johnson leading a balanced offensive attack. Sosa delivered a clutch two-RBI triple, while Graham and Zoe Molina added key contributions. In the circle, Gabrielle Stonecypher was dominant, tossing a complete game and allowing just two hits to secure the win.
The Wildcats will look to build on the momentum from the series finale as they take on the Knights of Middle Georgia back at home in a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 31 at 1 p.m. ET and 3 p.m. ET.
