Jennifer Ramirez (softball) and
Donte Curry Jr. (football) have been selected to attend the Black Student-Athlete Summit, held May 20–23, 2026 at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon.
Chosen as representatives of the SIAC, Ramirez and Curry Jr. will participate as part of the NCAA Office of Inclusion, Education and Community Engagement partnership, which provides HBCU student-athletes with opportunities for leadership development, career preparation, and national networking. The summit brings together student-athletes, administrators, and industry leaders for programming focused on professional growth, financial literacy, and life beyond athletics.
Their selection reflects their excellence on and off the field, as both Wildcats will engage in meaningful dialogue, gain valuable insight, and return to campus equipped to further impact the Fort Valley State University Athletics community and the SIAC.
About the Black Student-Athlete Summit
The Summit schedule is designed to balance inspiration, education, and connection across multiple days. Each day is centered around a distinct focus such as education and academics, mental health and wellness, professional development, and financial literacy and entrepreneurship allowing attendees to engage deeply with topics that support both personal and professional growth.
Programming typically includes main stage conversations, interactive sessions, and experiential moments that encourage dialogue, reflection, and relationship-building. While specific sessions and timelines are still being finalized, the overall flow of the Summit is structured to create a cohesive and impactful experience that meets attendees where they are and supports them throughout their journey.
