Denzel Jones enters his first season at Fort Valley State University where he will be the Defensive Coordinator and Inside Linebacker Coach.
Jones arrives at FVSU after coaching five seasons at North Carolina A&T. Jones served as the Aggies graduate assistant in 2017 where he was responsible for coaching inside linebackers after spending two years as the Aggies starting middle linebacker in 2014 and 2015.
Jones coached Kyin Howard, the MEAC 2020 Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. The new Wildcats coach also guided Jacob Roberts, who developed into one of the best linebackers in the nation as a two-time All-American and a two-time All-Conference player.
As a player, Jones lettered four times in football at N.C. A&T. He closed out his career with 130 tackles (71 unassisted), 16.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, three interceptions, three pass breakups and six passes defended. He was named Celebration Bowl Defensive MVP in 2015.
Jones graduated from N.C. A&T in 2016 with a degree in supply-side management.
Denzel and his wife Alyssa have one daughter, Lily.
