Mayhan previously spent four seasons on staff at Southeastern University, where he gained extensive experience contributing to championship-caliber teams. During the 2022–2023 season, Southeastern captured both the Sun Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships while advancing to the NAIA Sweet 16. The team posted more than 20 wins and led the conference in scoring defense. He assisted in the development of multiple All-Conference players, including a back-to-back Sun Conference Player of the Year.
In the 2021–2022 season, Mayhan was part of a coaching staff that earned Sun Conference Staff of the Year honors after leading the program to another 20-win season and an NAIA National Tournament appearance. The team ranked first nationally in scoring offense and three-point field goals made per game while also leading the conference in multiple statistical categories. During his tenure, Southeastern earned signature victories over nationally ranked opponents and consistently competed among the top programs in the NAIA.
Beyond collegiate coaching, Mayhan has also served as a Camp Director and Counselor at Southeastern University from 2022 to 2024, where he oversaw daily camp operations, coordinated logistics, and instructed athletes in skill development, leadership, and mental toughness.
